Disable Microsoft Edge ---------------------- (as of 11/17/20) Taken from last post of this thread: https://answers.microsoft.com/... [microsoft.com] Note that before doing this you will want another browser loaded and you may need to set it as default. Disable Edge Using File Rename: 1. Press Windows + I to launch the file explorer. Click on “This PC” present in the left navigation pane and navigate to the following file path: C:\Windows\SystemApps 2. Once in the directory, look for the following folder “Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe”. 3. Right-click on the folder and select Properties. 4. Once in the properties, follow this tutorial to take ownership of the folder: https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/take-ownership-folder-windows-10-using-file-explorer 5. Once you have ownership, right-click on the folder again and select “Rename”. (Do note that you need an administrative account to carry out this operation.) 6. Rename the folder to “Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe_OLD”. You can rename it to anything but make sure to add text after the original folder name in case you want to activate Edge again. 7. Restart your computer and check if Edge is still enabled.
