Transferring Outlook Express Folders to a New Computer ====================================================== Old Computer: ------------- 1. Outlook Express | Tools | Options | Maintenance 2. Click on the button "Store Folder". (tells the folder containing the e-mail folder) 3. Select the folder location and then CTRL+C. 4. Click "Cancel" and the "Cancel" again to close the dialog box. 5. Start | Run followed by CTRL+V in the box and click "OK." 6. Edit | Select All | CTRL+C, then close the window. 7. Right-click on an empty space on the desktop, click "New" and "Folder." 8. Type "mail backup" for the folder name and click "Enter." 9. Double-click the mail backup folder to open it. Then CTRL+V. 10. Close the mail backup window. 11. Copy the entire e-mail folder to a transfer storage device. (i.e. external HDD) New Computer: ------------- 1. Move the e-mail folder using the transfer storage device to the desktop. 2. Cancel the READ ONLY attribute. (and apply to all subfolders) 3. Outlook Express | File | Import | Messages. 4. Choose "Microsoft Outlook Express 6" and press "Next." 5. Select "Import Mail from an OE6 store directory" and press "Next." 6. Browse to the location of the storage device or file and select "Import." Note: for the Address Book use text CSV, use Outlook Express | File | Export for the old computer followed by Outlook Express | File | Import on the new computer.
