Restoring the ntldr of Windows XP (as of 01/25/14) --------------------------------- 1. Boot from an Ubuntu Live-CD. (Adjust the boot sequence as necessary.) 2. Connect an external USB CD-Player. 3. Insert the Windows Repair CD into the drive. 4. From Ubuntu mount the proper computer drive with Windows 5. Copy the following files from the CD's i386 folder: ntldr ntdetect.com 6. Paste them into the folder of the computer drive with Windows into the folder that contains Windows. (C Drive) 7. Unmount the computer drive with Windows. 8. Eject the Windows Repair CD from the external CD-Player. Then disconnect the external CD-Player. 9. Exit from Ubuntu, remove the Ubuntu CD/DVD and reboot to Windows. Assuming that missing or corrupt versions of the NTLDR and/or Ntdetect.com files were your only issues, Windows XP should now start normally.
